FAQ About Acupuncture

What will happen on my first visit?

During the initial exam a full history will be taken of the patient regarding their symptoms, health and lifestyle. The acupuncturist will check the pulse rate and tongue which is a roadmap of the body. It reflects the general health of the organs and meridians. After a diagnosis is determined where Qi is blocked or imbalanced, you will receive your first treatment. The first visit will take approximately 90 minutes.

Is acupuncture painful?

Acupuncture rarely causes pain. Very fine, flexible needles are used, about the size of a human hair. Most patients find the treatments very relaxing and often feel a deep sense of well-being.

Is acupuncture safe?

It is extremely safe as it is all natural, drug free with no side effects. There is little to no chance of infection as sterile, disposable needles are always used.

How many treatments will I need before I get better?

This varies from person to person. Some people experience immediate relief while others take months to achieve the desired results. Usually a minimum of four visits are needed to see significant and long lasting changes.
